Federal bank regulatory agencies today released the 2026 list of certain geographies where certain bank activities are eligible for Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) credit. 

FFIEC Statement on Promoting De Novo Depository Institution Formation

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, on behalf of its member entities, released a statement on promoting de novo depository institution formation. The statement includes agency-specific resources for applicants. The statement should not be interpreted as new instructions; instead, it offers further transparency into the de novo formation process. 

FFIEC Announces Appointment of Amol Vaidya as Executive Secretary

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) today announced the appointment of Amol Vaidya as executive secretary. Mr. Vaidya's principal responsibilities will be to manage the operations of the FFIEC consistent with the goals, priorities, and guidance of FFIEC members, to coordinate the interaction of the interagency staff task forces, and to provide management oversight of all operations.

Agencies Request Comment on Financial Institutions Rating System

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) today invited public comment on proposed revisions to the uniform financial institutions rating system, commonly known as CAMELS, to focus on material financial risk and improve the transparency of ratings. The public is encouraged to submit comments within 90 days of publication in the Federal Register through the Federal eRulemaking Portal

Gonzales Selected to FFIEC State Liaison Committee

The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) today announced the reselection of Greg Gonzales to the FFIEC’s State Liaison Committee (SLC) for the term that runs from May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2028. This is Gonzales’s second consecutive two-year term, and he previously served on the SLC as the CSBS-designated member from 2016 to 2021 and served as SLC Chair from 2017 to 2021.

Introduction to Real Estate Appraisal Review School

Introduction to Real Estate Appraisal Review School (ITREARS) provides foundational knowledge and concepts required to understand commercial real estate appraisals. This course is the prerequisite to Real Estate Appraisal Review School (REARS). This course and the CSBS’s Introduction to Real Estate Appraisal Review are identical and qualify as the pre-course for the FFIEC’s REARS.

The length is four days.
