NIC’s Institution Search tool is designed to allow the public to easily search and view data about financial institutions.
The easiest way to search for a specific institution is to use the Institution Name or RSSD filter at the top of the page. You can input a full or partial name or the RSSD ID. Inputting an RSSD ID will trump any other search criteria.
You can optionally search for all institutions located in geographic region such as cities, states or countries.
Advanced users can use Identifiers such as NCUA ID, LEI to search for specific institutions. Inputting an identifier will trump any other search criteria.
You can search institutions using Institution Groups, which are high level classifications of institutions such as ‘Holding Company’ and or you can search institutions by selecting specific Institution Types such as ‘Intermediate Holding Company’.
The status filter allows you to choose whether you want to search for institutions that are active or inactive or both.
The Institution Name must be entered correctly. Partial name is also accepted. For example, if Citi is entered instead of Citibank or Citigroup, you will receive all institutions with names that includes the word citi.
RSSD ID is a unique identifier assigned to institutions by the Federal Reserve Board (FRB).
The city name must be spelled correctly. For example, if "SAINT LOUIS" is entered, you will receive only institutions where the city name is "SAINT LOUIS". You will not receive institutions where the city name is "ST LOUIS" or "ST. LOUIS".
Provides the option to select multiple states from the drop down menu.If no state is specified, the search will include all states.
Selecting a country / U.S. territory is optional (default is “UNITED STATES”). The drop down menu provides the option to select more than one country or a U.S. territory.
